WF_3DL back to menu
3DL

The LUT x buttons enable the LUT on the current shot. The 12 LUTs are shared among all shots, all timelines and all projects, a list of available LUTs can be displayed by clicking on the "Show LUT list" button. No LUT is a bypass button to quickly see the difference.

LUTs are sometimes used on the shooting to create some looks, here is the ideal place to load them
without affecting Lustre's Input, Output and Viewing LUTs.

On the right, Lustre selectives are in the same layout as in the Colour menu. Invert is inverting the selective, it's independent from the Lustre invert buttons in Keyer and Geometry. Mask Opacity is also independent from the Opacity parameter in Lustre.

L and S Button are used to load and store presets that take parameters of the current plugin.

LUT files are shared for network rendering (Incinerator, Burn). Check the WF_init.cfg file to make sure they all look for the same files.

WF_CDL
back to menu

WF_CDL is an implementation of the ASC-CDL (American Society of Cinematographers, Color Decision List), a format for colour interoperability between systems. The Lustre implementation is more for dailies workflow, this one is more for VFX and offline grading. Colour correction for VFX has to be done on the grading system, but most of the time you want to keep it as metadata, that's what WF_CDL does.

Make sure every other colour correction is bypassed in Lustre and just the viewing LUT is kept. On the other system you will communicate with you will have to make sure you use a compatible viewing, for example if you use a Kodak2383 preview for log footage on a DCI projector on Lustre, you will have to have a LUT to match Kodak2383 on the VFX machine's display.

Create a colour correction with the parameters:
- Slope is behaving like Gain in linear architecture
- Offset is behaving like Brightness in log architecture
- Power is behaving (almost) like a gamma control on a regular colour corrector

Then, click on S button to export the XML data file, you can browse to the shot folder. On the other side, the compositor can load the shot and put the CDL file in a CDL processing node, such as the CDL Spark that come with Autodesk Flame and Smoke, that can be enabled for viewing and kept independent from the viewing LUT.

On a offline grading workflow the DoP can prepare ideas and looks on a CDL enabled product such as IRIDAS SpeedGrade and then load them in the session to be used as starting points for the grading.

Create 2D LUT and Create 3D LUT export LUTs to be used in non CDL compatible application. For example they can be put in a 3D LUT processing node in a batch processing view. 3D LUT can also be loaded into a video processing device such as Blackmagic HD Link Pro for previewing or dailies. Finally, 3D LUT can be used by Lustre as input LUT for cameras with non-natural looking output such as the Thomson GVG Viper in Filmstream mode.

Your WF_x plugin here! back to menu

Workflowers can create a WF_x plugin for your own special need (that's actually how it all started). Contact us to see what's possible.

And yes, we are also working on some common problematics such as grain/noise management (removal and addition). Stay tuned!

Free scripts back to menu

The WF_x distribution comes with a set of simple but useful Python scripts. And the best is they are free!

GBM: Grade Bin Manager: Load, Save your own grade bin using Lustre's Global Grade bin, anywhere on the machine or on the network.

GBL: Grade Bin loader. backups the current Global Grade Bin and replace it with the one you pick from another project, another scene or another machine on the network.

GBRL: Grade Bin Reloader: reloads the Global Grade Bin and replace it with the default one.

You can for example map those scripts to system shortcuts and have them available inside Lustre to change your grade bin instantaneously, for example Shift + F1 for GBL and Shift + F2 for GBRL.

Multiplicator: take one single file to create a sequence.

More to come! Those are released under GPL, you can edit them to fit your needs.

If you have special requirements don't hesitate to contact us.
