Infrastructure and workflows: the organisation of a production chain in media involves a lot of different skills and tools. We differenciate:
- Dataflow: the flux of data between machines
- Workflow: the sequence of tasks that have to be performed to complete the project. Tasks can either be performed by humans or machines.
For example a dataflow can be centralized around a storage infrastructure, while the workflow being very sequential. Sometimes the workflow involves many exchanges between all the operators, while the dataflow follows the information stream.
Our methodology defines each step as a sub-system of the more global production chain: this systemic approach allows for more modularity and more precise definition of needs at each step, so they can later on be optimized.
